ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS

The city of culture and civilizations, Erzurum has a 6000 year-old history through which important civilizations have been settled in different parts. The city will bring these features to the fore during the Winter Universiade.

On the stages founded in the Universiade Village, there will be different performances such as cinema, concert, theatre and opera every night. In addition, there will be picture and sculpture exhibitions, and it will be free of charge to attend to all of these activities. There will also be a sculpture competition with snow, night skiing, javelin shows, and snow volley during the games. The athletes, those who want to introduce their own cultural values will be provided with appropriate environment; by this way, a cultural interaction beyond territories will be possible. All 41.000 students of the university will also take part in almost every stage of the organization and find a chance to join with the athletes. The clubs in the Games’ Village will be open for the attendees every evening. Free of charge trips will be arranged to the historical and touristic places in and around Erzurum. During the trips to Erzurum city centre, attendees will be to introduced to Double Minaret Madrasah, Yakutiye Madrasah, shopping centers, and restaurants where local Erzurum dishes can be tasted. Also, as for other attractions around Erzurum, places like as Narman earth pillars, Tortum Waterfalls, Oltu Castle and thermal hot springs will be introduced to the participants. In addition, extra trips will be arranged for those who want to see the cultural beauties located in surrounding cities.

The athletes who win a medal and/or Fair Play rewards will be awarded holidays in cities such as Istanbul and Antalya.

From the neighboring countries, international entertainment groups will be invited to join the activities. For every program, international spectators will be targeted.
